The “Sons of Italy” is a national organization of men and women who represent an estimated 17 million Americans of Italian heritage. We are dedicated to promoting Italian culture, traditions, language, and the legacy of our ancestors, as well as our contributions to the U.S. and the world. 

 

The Order was established in 1905 in New York City and currently has over 700 chapters across the country. We are a cultural, social, and charitable organization.  Although the order primarily consists of people of Italian descent, anyone is welcome to join as a social member. Our mission includes encouraging the study of Italian language and culture in American schools and universities; preserving Italian American traditions, culture, history, and heritage; and promoting closer cultural relations between the United States and Italy.

 

America Lodge #2245 represents the local chapter, serving the communities of Franklin Square, West Hempstead, Garden City and Elmont. We are celebrating 50+ years, with over 200 members and going strong.  We hold several exciting events every year including our annual anniversary dinner dance, trips to the Opera, and special movie nights, among others.  We participate in parades, 9/11 memorials, and many other local events. We provide academic scholarships for members’ children and grandchildren.

 

You are cordially invited to attend one of our general meetings which are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7:30 pm at the Franklin Square VFW Hall at 68 Lincoln Road. Come on over and see what we are all about.​
